Diaper Results

After cost comparisons and hands-on testing, the winner has emerged for cost and efficiency. It's Target's Up and Up brand diapers. I started with the lowest-priced (Wal-mart and Target) and really didn't feel the need to go further, though I might in the future just for the sake of it. Wal-mart's Parent's Choice brand was a close second for sure. In terms of absorbency, they did really well...the only glitch was their tabs were flimsy and not very adhesive. One naptime experience of Aaron's poopy diaper falling halfway down into his pant-leg gave me great cause for concern. Target's brand is only two cents more per package, and they seem to have great sales from time to time, just like Wal-mart. We still use Pampers at night because Aaron wets SO heavily. I'm going to check out the Luvs overnights, b/c they are the least expensive of the Brand Name diapers, and none of the generic brands offer an overnight/super absorbency that I have found. So, I'll keep you all posted on that next venture. But for now, I can honestly say I like the Target brand over even Pampers for daytime use. Maybe I'll be brave and try the generics overnight. I mean, he usually wakes up wet anyway, so what's one more load of laundry, right? :)

  2. Yes, I did use cloth diapers (Bumgenius brand) for over a year, and liked them for the most part, but had to make a decision: retire them for the rest of Aaron's diaper career, or invest a considerable amount of money in more diaper inserts to help stop leakage. I voted for retiring them for a number of reasons. Yet, I didn't want to break the budget either, because we saved so much money using cloth. Target came to the rescue! I hope my "research" helps someone else in the same boat! :)
