Two Going on Ten

It's so hard to believe it, but Aaron turned 2 on Friday. So many things are changing with him, it's so hard to keep track! He's saying SO many more words, talking up a storm to whomever will listen. I can't recall what all I've listed so far, but here are some of the new ones: Taco, Elevator, Down, Outside, Boo-boo, Shoe, Bug bite (he says "Bughuck"), Bible, Door, Flower ("Fwower"), and here's the clincher, "Teet-Teet" for light. Yes, it is EXTREMELY embarassing when he yells it out loud and clear in Wal-mart, church, the doctor's office, and yes, we DO try so hard to have him say "light" instead. He comes up with funny names for people, like calling his Uncle Jordan "Cookie." :) He can almost repeat anything you say, but it often comes out funny.

The week leading up to his birthday, my mom ("Mimi" to Aaron) was in town, and we had lots of fun together. Aaron loves his Mimi, and likes to pick "Fwowers" for her on our walks and eat "Nummies" which refers to McDonald's mostly, with her.

We had such a fun day on his actual birthday, June 4th, mostly with just Aaron, Kevin and I (Kevin had the day off). It started with Aaron opening his present from Kevin and I (which Kevin surprised ME by picking out/up the day before on his way home!), which was a Hot Wheels car track..he already has a good collection of cars started from his Uncle Andy. Kevin and Aaron set it up while I got ready after breakfast, then Aaron and I headed off to the last Mommy and Me of the season before summer break. The gals threw a joint surprise shower for me and another girl, Caitlin, who are both due before the group starts back up in the fall. We were so blessed by everyone's kindness and generosity! We took home some cake, which ended up being Aaron's birthday cake. :) On our way home, I went through McDonald's drive threw (Aaron was about to jump out of his car seat, he was so excited and begging for "Nummies"), got us all lunch, and we ate at home with Kevin and Uncle Andy. After Aaron's nap, we played more Hot Wheels, went to the grocery store and picked out a balloon for Aaron, some frozen pizzas for dinner, and ice cream to go with the cake. Then, my mom stopped by right after dinner for a quick visit to give Aaron one of his presents. It was a fun, full day!

On Sunday, we FINALLY got around to cutting his hair! Whew! It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. In fact, Aaron did GREAT!

His new Summer, Big Boy 'do

Today, he had his 2 year check up at the doctor's. Praise the Lord, he didn't have to get any shots! I was so surprised, I didn't realize he was caught up. He weighed in at 28 lbs, 4 oz (53 percentile), measured at 34 inches (2 feet, 10 inches) tall (40 percentile), and head measured at 19.5 inches (73 percentile.) Kid has a big noggin! :) The doctor said overall, he looks great, which is always so nice to hear. He can start eating peanuts (I held off b/c the doc wanted to play it safe and given his other sensitivities to things, it just made sense), so now we can add PB&J to our menu! We'll switch to 2% milk now. His ears looked FINE, which is HUGE. Not only were they clear of infection, but also of fluid. God is so good. He can stop taking the Zyrtec and Flonaise, and just take the Zyrtec as PRN. I.e. when ragweed hits in the fall, etc. He has this wierd "calcified" toenail that keeps growing back kinda' yellowish and hard, and the doctor said it might be fungus, so I'll start putting a cream on it. Same thing can be used on his wee-wee, which has also been a bit more irritated lately. Funny how one cream can be so multi-functional. I left just praising the Lord, and reminding myself not to take it for granted that Aaron is so healthy right now.
