23 weeks

I will officially be 23 weeks along tomorrow, but I had my appt. today. The doctor said he's very pleased with my progress and everything looks good. So thankful! This was the same doctor who last time hinted at some concern over my weight, as you might remember reading. Well, today, he said my weight was right on track and that I've gained 10 lbs total so far, and that was in a healthy range. But I gained 4 lbs in 6 weeks, not the 2 lbs he'd suggested. So, I sheepishly said "I have to admit, you stressed me out a little last time when you said I was gaining too much weight. Were you concerned at that point? Is there something else going on, like high blood pressure warnings or something?" He got a confused look on his face, and then a little alarmed and apologetic, like he'd offended me and said no, he wasn't worried and believe me, if he was, he would tell me boldly. So, I'm thinking he was either just being cautious or he maybe read my numbers wrong, b/c he really didn't seem to remember cautioning me last time. Oh well, I'm just thankful I don't need to worry and he thinks I'm doing just fine. :) Yeah.

We talked a little more about VBAC vs. C-section and how the baby's position may play a roll. He said that in reality, they won't really know about the baby's official position (as far as sunny side up or not) until right at the time of delivery. He did say that if they can determine it early in the delivery process, they can help me with different Midwife-inspired positions to try to get the baby to "spin" in the right position, so that was encouraging. I think I can be a little better advocate for myself this time around to ask what options we might have early on. But, if a C-section is the way we go again, that's all part of God's plan.

I'll go back in 6 weeks for the glucose drink and more blood testing. I think this is where they check for gestational diabetes? I was a little unnerved when they handed me the hospital registration form today...it feels like it's too soon for that! Still got the hot months of summer to go, so I'm not too rushed. :)
