Most of my posts are about Aaron or family, but I had to share a few cool "deals" or budget-saving things that took place this past week. First, I was SOOOO excited to walk into Giant grocery store last week and find that they have a new system called Scan It. Basically, they fulfilled my dream! You as the shopper scan your bonus card, grab a scanner (like the ones you use for wedding or baby registries, but lighter and easier to use), grab bags if necessary (I use the re-usable bags now, namely b/c I get .5 cents discount with each bag, each time I shop), and you're off! You scan and bag your items as you shop, and it keeps a running total for you! It automatically calculates your bonus card discount, as well as offering special extras for using the Scan It system. It even allows you to use the new scales and weigh/price your produce, so you know exactly how much you're fruits and veggies cost! It doesn't account for tax, but that's ok by me. When you reach the check out line, you just scan and turn in your scanner wand, give any coupons you have, they ring you up, you pay and you're done! I now look FORWARD to grocery shopping...NEVER thought I'd say that, I truly loath the grocery store. Not anymore. :) And no more trying to tally on my cell phone calculator only to lose the total when someone calls or I miss a button! I really hope all grocery stores adopt this system.
Second cool thing. I took some baby clothes to consignment today, and with my previous store credit, along with what they bought today, I had enough to buy Aaron new fall clothes, only owing .18 cents. :) I got home and pulled out clothes I had put away (from hand-me downs or gifted items) and Aaron is almost set for fall clothes. For just .18 cents...well, and I think $7.99 Kevin and I spent on a cute outfit at Costco. I LOVE saving money, though I'm not always good at it. This time felt pretty rewarding I must say.
