The BIG ONE YEAR

It is almost inconceivable to us that Aaron has been with us a whole year. It feels like we blinked and he turned one, yet we cannot imagine life without him. His birthday is 6/4 and on that day, my mom and sister were in town, and we had a little mini-celebration with singing to him and he opened a few presents. He mostly got money, because we want to start him a college fund. Plus, we don't have a lot of room for toys and he doesn't know the difference at this age! Over the next few days, more of my family members arrived in town and on Sat, 6/6, we had Aaron's official party. So, all in all we had Nana and Grampa Jeanes, Uncle Andy Jeanes, Mimi and Gramps Byrd, Uncle Jordan Byrd, Aunt Hannah Byrd and Aunt Rachel Byrd. Plus Mommy and Daddy. :) It was a VERY fun day! We had a casual cook-out and of course, cake for Aaron. He was hilarious, it was his first taste of that much sugar and he wasn't sure what to think. The pictures and video will tell more of that story.

On 6/10, he had his 12 month well-baby check up. He wasn't feeling 100% that day, he threw up in the morning and had a meager appetite, so the doctor just gave him one shot (Hep A) and saved the others for his 15 mo check up. Fun. Overall, he got a healthy bill of sale, except for the baby eczema on his legs. The doc said it may go away but that it could mean a milk allergy. Or it could be the formula, so as we gradually switch him to cow's milk, he may outgrow it. Or it could get worse. We'll see! Also, the doctor said chlorine might clear it up when we take him swimming. Who knows!

His stats were:

Height: 28 inches
Weight: 22.1 lbs.

He's in the 45% for height and weight, and head cirumference is normal too. We can turn his car seat around now too!

Both today and yesterday, his appetite has been really decreased, almost by 50% for his formula intake. He's never been like this except when he had the Noro virus. He was really constipated today, and he has LOTS of gas, so we're thinking something's just upsetting his GI track and he's lost his appetite. Still a little strange. I'm opting not to introduce any major new foods until he's feeling better (i.e. cheese, yogurt, milk, etc).

Despite not feeling well, he did some really cute things today. He decided he was in love with the carpet in the living room, and kept flattening himself on his stomach, making these cute little noises (we say "love-love" when he does it, b/c it's usually directed towards Bear-Bear or one of us), but then, unfortunatley, biting and ripping up fragments of carpet. We quickly discouraged that activity. He then played a new game with Mimi's water bottle. He was sitting up on the floor, would pick up the bottle drop it back behind his head, then turn around looking for it. Hard to explain in words how cute it was, but it was adorable. Over the past few weeks, he's discovered the remote control for two of the lamps in the living room (Grampa introduced that one to him, which made it extra special) and tonight, he was the most animated he's been, clicking the lights on and off rapidly, with his eyes wide, his mouth open in a huge "o" and he kept blinking his eyes when the lights flickered on/off. So expressive! And, 3 for 3 today, he discovered splashing water in the bath tonight. Mommy's soaked clothes were living proof he has a strong splash. He thought it was hilarious until he got it all over his face, then he wasn't sure if he liked it or not, but he kept doing it and squinting like "where did all that water come from?" Bath time is getting more and more fun.
