Dissapointed but thankful

38 weeks as of yesterday. Had my first cervical exam today, and I am 2 cm dilated, which is "normal" for this stage in the game my doctor says. I was dissapointed when she explained that baby's head is not "engaged" in the pelvic canal, as most babies are at this stage, which doesn't bode well for the VBAC. She was able to externally move baby's head from side to side, and actually guided my hands to do the same. It was pretty cool! But most baby's heads are "fixed" at this point, i.e. not budging, as they engage into the pelvic canal, preparing for their grand appearance. She said it's likely this baby has a large noggin, like Aaron, and I have a small pelvic opening, so that usually means c-section. Baby COULD technically move, but not likely. So, I'm sad but was preparing myself and am trusting that it will all be ok and God is in control. Truly, I am reminded to be so thankful that we have the option for safe c-sections in our country and that my baby has a very high rate of survival, just as if we were doing VBAC, maybe more. That's something I never want to take for granted.

We'll see how the next week plays out. I've had more discomfort, some intense braxton hix contractions (along with lots of gas pressure, yeah fun!) but nothing that really indicates labor anytime too soon.

Also, a quick update on insurance, sparing the details: Praise the Lord, it looks like we can possibly be covered going back to August 1st. So, we might get some money back from my doctor, but at least it looks like the hospital can be covered completely. This is all pending that I am accepted. The application is in the "pending review" process which may take a few more weeks. They assured me that if baby comes before that is finalized, they will still take into account the date I sent the application and can provide retro coverage. Phew. We are overwhelmed by God's goodness and faithfulness, and so thankful that we may not have to spend the rest of our savings on hospital bills. Thanks to all for your prayers!

And last but not least (I know, random info all in one post!) we are officially MOVING to Manassas. A gracious family in our church offered their basement to us, and we accepted. Yes, moving in the last few weeks of pregnancy is NOT ideal, but it's how the timing worked out. We have been so blessed by our friends and family supporting and helping us. We hope to be all moved by Labor Day, and maybe have a few days if not a week to get "settled" (as much as I can manage!) before baby arrives. We will still have Aaron in our room, and the baby will be in a little workroom/storage area just off the living room area, but we are SO thankful to be closer to the church where Kevin works, and to have a little more space to spread out. Again, God's timing is perfect and He is faithful to supply all our needs!

And, icing on the cake, my mom just moved back to the area so we are so thrilled to have most of our kids' grandparents nearby (my dad is only 3 hours away in WV). We are so thankful to have them all close by! :)

Will try to post pictures of our new digs soon, might be a little while though, as moving and baby will take priority!
